Meet DJ JFK (TJ Baker)
Therion Engrish Baker II, better known as DJ JFK (Just For Kicks), is an educator, mentor, entrepreneur, and nationally recognized DJ whose journey is rooted in faith, family, education, and community impact.
A native of Reading, Pennsylvania (and proudly representing nearby Shillington), TJ's love for sports, music, history, and storytelling began at an early age. His first public DJ performance took place while he was still in high school, and he has been building his craft ever since.
Education has always been central to TJ's story. A graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, he earned numerous state and national awards before attending Temple University, where he received his bachelor's degree and first master's degree, served twice as Student Body President, and was later inducted into the university's Hall of Fame. He has also pursued studies at the University of Central Florida and Harvard University. At just 19 years old, TJ began mentoring youth, teaching in the Philadelphia School District, and launching programs designed to help young people succeed.
While education is his calling, music became his platform. During his time at Temple, a legendary pajama party performance earned him the nickname DJ JFK—"Just For Kicks"—a name that would eventually become known across the country. Temple also became the birthplace of his company, Stay Hostin' Entertainment.
What started with countless hours of practice in his parents' backyard has grown into a career that has taken him across the nation. DJ JFK has performed, hosted, and entertained for major organizations and venues including the Harlem Globetrotters, Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics, Penn State Football, Georgia Tech Athletics, Georgetown University Athletics, the NCAA, and the Junior NBA. He has also worked with leading entertainment companies such as Roc Nation, Live Nation, Sony Music, and Def Jam, and even served as DJ for comedian Kevin Hart's early tours.
Despite his impressive resume, TJ remains most passionate about inspiring the next generation. As an educator, coach, mentor, and entrepreneur, he believes music is a powerful tool for building confidence, creating opportunities, and bringing people together. Through every performance, classroom, and mentorship opportunity, his goal remains the same: to help others discover their gifts, pursue their dreams, and experience joy, freedom, and connection.
Today, DJ JFK continues to impact audiences across the country while using his God-given talents to uplift, inspire, and empower people of all ages.
